Hush
by preston poe

My work deals with the persuasion of objects over time. Time alters our perception of objects and their compelling aspects become touchstones of our own consciousness. Art consumes identities and creates a means for altering identity. Sound and image convey the urge to challenge the sense of authority in art and the world. It commissions the audience to reevaluate their surroundings.
Hush is a new work which defines the space around it and connections to an anonymous universe through sound and sculpture. In this unique place, we are adrift in a sea of sound.
This piece is connected to my other experiments with sound which focus on the relationship of the physical body to creating perceiving sounds. With Hush, we interact with "others" as part of a corporal sonic landscape, sending messages about our state of mind and physical well being using sonic pathways to determine our relationships; whether personal, individual, or social in nature.
Preston Poe would like to thank Dwayne & Margot Warmus for
their assistance in conceiving and creating this work.
